Phoenix
Arizona State Fair
Phoenix, AZ, 85007, United States
Originally founded as the Arizona Territorial Fair in November 1884, this three-week event now takes place in mid-October at the Arizona State Fairground off West McDowell Road. Each year, the fair hosts concerts by some of the nation’s top music artists, with past performers including Trace Adkins, 3 Doors Down, and Snoop Dogg. Highlights also include carnival rides, dance performances, a beer festival, a cupcake challenge, and animal exhibits, such as a petting zoo and Valentine’s Performing Pigs. Of course, the deep fried food, ranging from gravy and meatballs to watermelon and bubble gum, is also a major draw.
Insider Tip:
For the best discounts, visit the fair on Friday before 6 p.m. for “happy hour,” which includes half price admission and $2 rides, games, and food.
