New York City
American Airlines Theatre
New York, NY, 10036, United States
Permanent home to New York City’s renowned Roundabout Theatre Company, the 740-seat American Airlines Theatre features an Italian Renaissance design, complete with marble floors, ornate crown molding and glass chandeliers. First opened in 1918 as the Selwyn Theatre, the building has been through extensive refurbishment and now hosts Roundabout's Broadway plays and musicals. Thanks to the addition of the Penthouse Lobby, which was built to float just above the theater's original roof to comply with building codes, you can meet friends at a table or by the large windows for a snack and drink before or after the show.
Insider Tip:
In its former life as the Selwyn Theatre, the venue hosted performances of works by such renowned playwrights as George Kaufman and Noel Coward.
