Albacore Fishing Charters

Nantucket is angler heaven: striped bass, bluefish, cod, fluke, tuna, and even blue sharks all make their home in the cold, deep waters around the island. While some still choose to fish from shore (Great Point has historically been a top surfcasting spot), the recent proliferation of seals has made it harder to actually reel in a catch—so for many, trolling offshore is a better bet. Of the several charter fishing boats operating out of Straight Wharf in Nantucket Town, Albacore gets top marks for its immaculate 35-foot custom-built boat, which is tricked out with state-of-the-art equipment; the expertise of its owner, native Nantucketer and second-generation charter captain Bob DeCosta; and for the variety of fishing trips offered (ranging from 2.5-hour easy trolls for bluefish to 12-hour voyages in search of massive—up to 800-pound—bluefin tuna). The crew will gladly clean your catch for you to take home.

Tip: Bring your own beer and snacks. Charter rates don’t include food or drink—but there are coolers for whatever you want to bring aboard.
